Master's Degree
The Master's course in Education has been offered since 2011 and has since trained more than 100 researchers. Currently, rated Concept 4 by CAPES (In Portuguese: Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior; in English: Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement), the course trains Masters in Education.
The course is aimed at professionals from different areas, including those in education, with a degree in education or educational management and guidance, as well as other areas of activity in the field of education, such as psychopedagogy and psychology, and other fields, such as applied social sciences, health, literature and linguistics, etc. This scope is made possible by the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum offered by the course and the wide-ranging investigative possibilities that education offers by establishing a dialog with other areas of knowledge.
In order to obtain a Master's degree in Education, training involves study, participation in compulsory and optional subjects, research groups and events, orientation, scientific production, among other activities. The student must produce a dissertation, to be defended, within a period of up to 24 months. The minimum time for completion of the course is 18 months and the maximum 30, and in the event of an extension (six months), the request for an extension must be submitted by the master's student and assessed by the Course Board.
The academic experience in the Program aims to ensure that Master's graduates in Education receive excellent training in research and high-quality human resource development, preparing them to work in both formal and non-formal educational settings.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to:
Address the challenges of education by deepening their studies and conducting research that fosters advancements in educational knowledge and practice;
- Generate knowledge with an impact on the scientific community in the field of Education and on the educational system at all levels and modalities;
- Propose solutions to overcome local, regional, and national educational challenges;
- Critically analyze theoretical and practical approaches to education and its relationship with social, political, economic, and cultural contexts, considering both local and global perspectives;
- Engage in comparative dialogues on educational realities in Brazil and abroad;
- Conduct research and reflections that support the training of researchers and educators for higher education.
